1 Man Killed, Another Injured in Shooting at Freedom Park Apartments
Following reports of gunshots fired at Freedom Park apartments, police officers were called to the South Fulton apartment complex. The police located two victims who had been shot. Both individuals were taken to local hospitals.
One man, identified as Kenyon Collins, later died from his injuries. Identifying information has not yet been released for the second victim, whose current condition is unknown. Currently, no arrests have been made and authorities are actively investigating what led up to the shooting on complex property.
Anyone with information that may assist the investigation is encouraged to come forward.

According to research conducted by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Freedom Park apartments have been the site of perpetual criminal activity/shootings since at least 2017. “Of note: From 2017-2020, police received 65 reports of a weapon being fired.” Formerly known as Hickory Park, this complex has faced previous lawsuits dealing with ineffective security, health violations, and safety issues.
In October 2021, a shooting on property injured six individuals. In September 2020, a man was critically injured after being shot. Earlier that same year, in June 2020, reports of a homicide took place on property. A year prior, in April 2019, a homicide left three people injured, including a 1-year-old child. In fact, from July 2018 through July 2023, police have reported a total of at least 107 serious crimes.
Online Reviews only serve to confirm the perpetual violence and criminal activity on property. One reviewer writes “this place is hell on earth…I mentally checked out after they killed my neighbor.” Another review reveals a resident was almost shot and that security is rarely out on grounds. “These apartments stay on the news for shootings and people being killed.” Yet another individual writes “it’s a terrible place to stay and you are not protected…there’s fights and shot (sic) outs every night…
